Primary text

It is proper for the congregation following the Imam in Ramadan, when the Imam omits verses from the Surah, to recite those omitted verses themselves. This practice is supported by an action taken in Mecca, where they appointed a person to write down any letters or verses the Imam omitted. On the night of completing the recitation (Khatmah), this section would be recited again. This recommendation exists so that the Khatmah (completion of the Quran recitation) is fulfilled, and the full reward is attained.
