Does forgetfulness of the intention during prayer invalidate the prayer?

If one becomes oblivious to the intention or it slips away during the prayer, this does not affect the validity of the prayer because guarding against this state is impossible. The true reality of the intention is not required during the course of worship, supported by evidence from fasting and other acts.
