Primary text
Imitation is permissible for a Mujtahid who suffers from an affliction such as an eye disease (ramad) or any condition that prevents him from seeing the evidence necessary for Ijtihad. This ruling is analogous to the ruling for a blind person, as the Mujtahid is rendered incapable of independent reasoning (Ijtihad) due to this physical or circumstantial barrier.
