Intentional eating or drinking during the obligatory prayer invalidates the prayer. There is no known dispute on this matter. Scholars universally agree that a worshipper is prohibited from eating and drinking during prayer. Furthermore, there is scholarly consensus that whoever intentionally eats or drinks during the obligatory prayer must repeat it, as this action invalidates the prayer. This is considered a stronger case for invalidation than for fasting, which is not invalidated by such actions.
