Primary text

Abbreviating the prostration by reciting only the verses requiring prostration during prayer is disliked. This view is held by Ash-Sha'bi, An-Nakh'i, Al-Hasan (Al-Basri), and Ishaq (Ibn Rahwayh). The basis for this ruling is that this practice is not narrated as having been performed by the Salaf (Pious Predecessors), but rather their dislike for it is established, and there is no suitable analogy or parallel case to compare it against.

Permission (*Rukhsah*) for this practice is granted by Al-Nu'man (Abu Hanifa), his companion Muhammad (Ash-Shaybani), and Abu Thawr.
