It is disliked to perform prayer upon land that has subsided (khusf). This ruling is based on the fact that such a location is a place upon which divine wrath has descended. The evidence is the Prophet's statement to his companions when passing by Al-Hijr (the dwelling place of Thamud): 'Do not enter upon these punished people unless you are weeping, lest what afflicted them also afflicts you.' This narration is agreed upon (Muttafaqun Alayh).
