Is it disliked to have something suspended in the Qiblah direction?

Imam Ahmad stated that it is disliked to have anything suspended in the Qiblah direction, such as a Mus'haf (Quran copy) or anything else. Having an object placed on the ground in that direction is permissible. Abdullah ibn Umar was reported by Mujahid, through a chain of transmission, to have removed anything placed between himself and the Qiblah, including a sword or a Mus'haf.
