Is it disliked to speak during the Adhan (call to prayer)?
Chapter on Adhan
Al-Mughni
Book of Prayer
Primary text
Speaking during the Adhan is disliked. Al-Awza'i stated that he knew of no one whose practice was followed who did such a thing. If the speech is brief, the Adhan remains valid. However, if the speech is prolonged, the Adhan becomes void because it breaks the required sequence (Muwalah) of the Adhan, rendering it unrecognizable as an Adhan.
