Combining multiple Surahs in a voluntary prayer is permissible. The Prophet (peace be upon him) recited Surah Al-Baqarah, Aal Imran, and An-Nisa in a single Rak'ah. Ibn Mas'ud stated that he knew the pairs the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) used to combine, mentioning twenty Surahs from the *Mufassal* section, two Surahs per Rak'ah, which is agreed upon (Muttafaqun 'alayh). Uthman (may Allah be pleased with him) used to complete the entire Quran in one Rak'ah, and this is reported from a group of the Tabi'in.
