Primary text

It is permissible to combine two prayers using only a single Iqamah (call to commence the prayer). This is supported by a separate Hadith, and also because the first prayer is performed outside its proper time, making it akin to a missed prayer, and the second prayer is preceded by another, thus eliminating the need for a separate Adhan.

Supporting text

Abu Hanifa stated regarding the two combined prayers that the second prayer should not have an Iqamah, citing the narration of Ibn Umar that he prayed Maghrib and Isha with the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, at Muzdalifah with a single Iqamah, which is considered authentic.
