Primary text

Reciting the Quran sequentially across obligatory prayers, reading from where one left off in the previous prayer, is permissible. There is no issue with this practice. This view is supported by the practice of some predecessors. However, a report suggesting this practice was established in general is considered rejected by Ahmad.

It is related that Uthman (may Allah be pleased with him) performed this specific sequential reading practice only in the series of short chapters (Mufassal).
