Is it permissible to make up missed regular (Ratib) Sunnah prayers?
Chapter on the Times When Prayer is Prohibited
Al-Mughni
Book of Prayer
Primary text
Imam Ahmad states that there is no report of the Prophet, peace be upon him, making up any voluntary prayer except for the two rak'ahs of Fajr and the two rak'ahs after Asr. Ibn Hamid holds that all regular Sunan prayers may be made up at any time, excluding the prohibited times for prayer, based on the Prophet's making up some of them and analogizing the rest.

Al-Qadi and some of our colleagues maintain that only the two rak'ahs of Fajr are made up, extending until Duha time, and the two rak'ahs of Dhuhr. Imam Ahmad stated that he does not know of Witr performed after Fajr. Malik states that the two rak'ahs of Fajr are made up until the time of Dhuhr, and not after that.
