Is it permissible to use the prayer niches (mihrabs) of non-believers for determining the Qibla?

It is not permissible to use the prayer niches of non-believers for determining the Qibla because their sayings are not to be followed, and their niches are even less so. However, if one knows the direction of their Qibla, such as the Christians whose Qibla is known to be the East, then upon seeing their niches in their churches, one ascertains that they face the East.
