Is it recommended to avoid facing a vertical object directly during prayer?

It is recommended that a worshipper slightly deviate from facing a pillar, post, or anything similar in meaning during the prayer. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, did not face any post, pillar, or tree directly, but rather positioned it to his right or left eyebrow. To face it directly, making it the exact center of one's focus, is what is prohibited.
