Primary text

There are two recognized pronunciations of 'Amin': one with a short Alif (qasr) and one with a lengthened Alif (madd), both with softening of the final letter. The meaning of 'Amin' is 'O Allah, respond to me,' according to Al-Hasan. It is also suggested that it is one of the Names of Allah, the Glorified and Exalted.

Supporting text

Pronouncing 'Amin' with a doubled consonant (shaddah) is not permissible because it changes the meaning to 'those who intend' or 'those who seek to visit,' as in the verse {nor those who seek the sacred house [Al-Masjid Al-Haram]} (Quran 5:2).
