Primary text

If one cannot hear the Imam's Qunut, one should supplicate. When making this supplication, one raises their hands up to the chest level. This practice is supported by Ibn Mas'ud, 'Umar, Ibn 'Abbas, Ishaq, and the Ashab al-Ra'i (the Companions of Opinion). The evidence for raising hands is derived from the actions of these Companions.

Malik, Al-Awza'i, and Yazid ibn Abi Maryam rejected the practice of raising hands during Qunut.
