Is performing Taraweeh prayer at home preferable for one who has the strength to stand in prayer?
Chapter on the Times When Prayer is Prohibited
Al-Mughni
Book of Prayer
Primary text
The prayer of a man is best performed in his house, except for the obligatory prayer. This position is held by Malik and Al-Shafi'i. Their primary evidence is the Hadith narrated by Zayd ibn Thabit, where the Prophet prayed privately in a screened-off area, and when men followed him, he later refrained from coming out due to their persistence, angering him and stating, 'Had it not been for your actions, I would have thought it would be decreed obligatory upon you. Therefore, observe the prayer in your homes, for the best prayer of a person is in his house, except for the obligatory prayer.' The reason the Prophet ceased leading them was the fear that the prayer would become obligatory upon the Ummah, a fear that is now removed.

It is refuted that Ali did not stand with the Companions, as it is narrated by Abu Abd al-Rahman al-Sulami that Ali did lead the people in Ramadan prayer. Furthermore, a report mentions Ali praying near mosques lit with lamps during Ramadan and supplicating, 'May Allah illuminate Umar's grave as he illuminated our mosques for us.'
