Is performing voluntary prayer (nawafil) between the Taraweeh prayers disliked?
Chapter on the Times When Prayer is Prohibited
Al-Mughni
Book of Prayer
Primary text
Imam Abu Abdullah dislikes performing voluntary prayer between the Taraweeh prayers. This view is supported by reports concerning three Companions of the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him): Ubadah, Abu Ad-Darda, and Uqbah ibn Amir. Abu Ad-Darda reportedly observed people praying between Taraweeh and questioned their action, stating, 'This is not our way; whoever rejects us is not among us.' Imam Ahmad also explicitly stated that one may pray voluntarily after the obligatory prayer, but not between the Taraweeh prayers.

When Abu Abdullah was informed of permission granted by some Companions for this act, he dismissed it as false, asserting that permission is only attributed to Al-Hasan and Sa'id ibn Jubayr.
