Is prayer permissible immediately after Fajr (morning prayer) until sunrise?
Chapter on the Times When Prayer is Prohibited
Al-Mughni
Book of Prayer
Primary text
Prayer is prohibited immediately following Fajr until the sun has fully risen. This prohibition is established by reports from reliable individuals, including Umar ibn Al-Khattab, citing the Prophet (peace be upon him). Evidence includes the Prophet's statement: "No prayer after the Fajr prayer until the sun has risen," as narrated by Muslim, and similar narrations from Abu Sa'id and Abu Hurayrah. Furthermore, a narration from Amr ibn 'Abasah states that one should cease prayer upon sunrise because the sun rises between the two horns of the devil, and it is at this time that disbelievers prostrate to it.
