Is prayer valid if performed on a high mountain that is directly above the Kaaba's horizontal plane?

Prayer is valid even if performed on a high mountain that is situated vertically above the Kaaba (exceeding its direct horizontal alignment). The obligation is to face the Kaaba or the space that is vertically aligned with it, whether above or below. This is established by analogy: if the Kaaba were to be destroyed, prayer would still be valid towards the location of its former wall.
