What is the prescribed manner for raising the hands during the opening *Takbir* of prayer?

The Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, when rising for prayer, used to raise his hands until they were parallel to his shoulders. He would then say the *Takbir* until every bone settled into its proper place in a balanced posture. This action is confirmed by the narration of Abu Humayd al-Sa'idi and ten other Companions.
