The correct placement for a single ambiguous hermaphrodite next to the Imam is to the Imam's right side. This is because if the khuntha is a man, he occupies the correct position, and if the khuntha is a woman, her prayer is not invalidated by standing next to the Imam, just as it is not invalidated by standing next to men. It is impermissible for the khuntha to stand alone, as he might be a man.
