Is the prostration of forgetfulness (Sujud as-Sahw) legislated in the Funeral Prayer?
Chapter on the Two Prostrations of Forgetfulness

Primary text
The prostration of forgetfulness is not legislated in the funeral prayer because the prayer itself does not contain a prostration in its core structure, thus rectification through an additional prostration is inappropriate. It is likewise not legislated for the prostration of recitation (Sujud at-Tilawah), as this would introduce an addition exceeding the original requirement. Imam Ahmad held this view, and Ishaq considered it an consensus (Ijmā'), as allowing it would lead to an infinite regress (tasselul). If one makes a mistake after performing Sujud as-Sahw, another prostration is not required for that subsequent mistake.
