What is the recommended manner for placing the feet during prostration?
Chapter on the Description of Prayer
Al-Mughni
Book of Prayer
Primary text
It is recommended that the worshipper place his feet on the tips of his toes, bending them towards the Qibla (direction of prayer). Ahmad stated that the toes should be spread so their tips face the Qibla. Prostration must be on the soles/tops of the feet because one is commanded to prostrate on seven bones, which includes the tips of the feet. During prostration, one should not spread the feet nor clench them, and the tips of the feet should face the Qibla.
Supporting text
The manner of placing the feet should be on the tops of the feet, as narrated in the description of the Prophet's prayer where he was not spreading them nor clenching them, and he faced the Qibla with the tips of his feet.
