What is the recommended posture for the worshipper immediately following *Taslim* if they do not stand up right away?
Chapter on the Description of Prayer
Al-Mughni
Book of Prayer
Primary text
If the worshipper does not stand immediately after *Taslim*, it is recommended that they turn away from the Qibla and not remain facing it. Remaining facing the Qibla risks causing doubt as to whether the prayer has truly concluded. The practice of the Prophet (peace be upon him) was to turn his face towards the congregation after finishing the prayer, as narrated by Samura. Furthermore, Yazid ibn al-Aswad narrated that the Prophet (peace be upon him) turned away after concluding the Fajr prayer.

Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) once rested his back against the Qibla direction after concluding the Asr prayer, and the congregation faced him. Sa'id ibn al-Musayyib stated that a man sitting on his knees is better than sitting facing the Qibla after *Taslim* without turning away. Ibrahim stated that if the Imam faces the Qibla after *Taslim*, they should be reprimanded. Imam Ahmad was seen by Al-Athram turning to the side and sitting cross-legged after *Taslim*, and Abu Dawud observed him turning to his right when acting as Imam.
