Primary text

It is recommended to perform the remembrance of God and supplication immediately following the obligatory prayer. The best forms are those confirmed by established transmission (Athar). This includes reciting, after every obligatory prayer: "There is no god but Allah, alone, without partner, to Him belongs the dominion, and to Him belongs all praise, and He is over all things capable. O Allah, none can withhold what You give, and none can give what You withhold, and no wealth or stature profits a man against Your decree." This is agreed upon (Muttafaq 'alayh). Furthermore, after concluding the prayer, it is Sunnah to seek forgiveness three times and then say: "O Allah, You are Peace (As-Salam), and from You comes all peace. Blessed are You, O Possessor of Majesty and Honor." The practice includes saying "Astaghfirullah, Astaghfirullah" as part of this sequence.

If one opts for specific recitations, such as saying "SubhanAllah, wal-hamdulillah, wallahu akbar" in succession until the count reaches thirty-three for each part, this is permissible. Deviation to other established phrases after the obligatory prayers is also valid because other narrations confirm different recitations from the Prophet, peace be upon him.
