Responding to the Adhan while already performing obligatory prayer (Salah)

One must not repeat the phrases of the Adhan while already engaged in the formal prayer. This is because preoccupation with matters outside the prayer itself is prohibited, evidenced by the narration stating, 'Indeed, in prayer there is preoccupation.'
