Primary text

For travelers, if they are traveling in a group (rifaq), they should call the Adhan and recite the Iqamah. If a traveler is alone, he should only recite the Iqamah for the prayer. This interpretation is clarified by Ibrahim al-Nakha'i's statement regarding travelers.

Supporting text

From 'Ali, it is stated that he has the option to call the Adhan and recite the Iqamah, or to recite the Iqamah only. This view is held by 'Urwah and al-Thawri. Al-Hasan and Ibn Sirin stated that reciting only the Iqamah suffices.
