What is the ruling on the Imamate of one who has pronunciation errors that do not change the meaning (*Luhhan*)?
Chapter on Imamate and Congregational Prayer
Al-Mughni
Book of Prayer
Primary text
The Imamate of one who has pronunciation errors that do not change the meaning is disliked (*makruh*), as stated by Ahmad. His prayer is valid behind whom a non-erroneous reciter prays because he has fulfilled the obligation of recitation. If the error changes the meaning in a chapter other than Al-Fatiha, it does not invalidate the prayer or the Imamate, unless done intentionally, in which case both prayers are nullified.
