Letting the shirt, Izaar, or trousers hang down below the ankles is disliked (makruh) because the Prophet, peace be upon him, commanded raising the Izaar. If Ispāl is done out of arrogance or pride (Khiyala), it becomes forbidden (Haram). The Prophet, peace be upon him, stated, “Whoever drags his garment in arrogance, Allah will not look at him.” Moreover, a specific narration from Ibn Mas’ud states, “Whoever lets his Izaar hang down in his prayer out of arrogance, he has no relation with Allah, the Exalted.”
