What is the ruling on making up a missed prayer by a resident (muqim) if it was missed while traveling?

Chapter on the Traveler's Prayer

Primary text

It is argued that if a traveler remembers a prayer missed while traveling, and remembers it while a resident (hadar), the prayer must be performed in its complete form (tammah). This is because the obligation to perform it completely attached to their liability (dhimmah) upon remembering it as a complete obligation. However, the preferred view holds that it remains a traveler's prayer performed in the shortened form, as its initial obligation and execution were linked to the state of travel.

An alternative opinion among some associates suggests that for the shortened prayer (qasr) to be valid upon making up, the prayer must have been performed during its prescribed time (adaa'). This analogy is drawn to Friday prayer (Jumu'ah). This view is considered flawed because it imposes a condition based on personal opinion lacking scriptural basis, and the analogy to Jumu'ah is invalid since Jumu'ah cannot be made up and requires specific prerequisites like the two sermons, a specific number of people, and settlement, unlike the traveler's prayer.
