What is the ruling on how naked individuals perform bowing and prostration if they pray seated?

Chapter on the Description of Prayer

Al-Mughni

Book of Prayer

Book 3 · Issue 6 · Bab 5

Open in Qurani

Primary text

If they pray seated due to necessity, they should make a gesture (Ima') for bowing and prostration. They should perform prostration on the ground, as prostration is more emphasized than standing because it is an end in itself and is not waived in cases where standing is waived, such as in voluntary prayer.

Supporting text

One narration from Ahmad suggests they only gesture because standing is waived to preserve modesty, and showing the private parts during prostration is more indecent, thus requiring its omission.
