If one sits for separation but stands up without performing the second prostration, one must perform the prostration, and the sitting is not required afterwards.

It is held by some that the sitting is required to fulfill the prostration from a sitting position, but this view is invalid because the sitting was already performed, and a subsequent omission does not invalidate the prior performed sitting, making it equivalent to having performed the prostration immediately following the sitting.
