What is the ruling regarding intentional additions of speech during prayer?
Chapter on the Two Prostrations of Forgetfulness
Al-Mughni
Book of Prayer
Primary text
Intentional additions of speech during prayer invalidate the prayer. This includes saying the *taslim* (final salutation) or the speech of other humans.
Supporting text
If one says the *taslim* in the wrong place due to forgetfulness, prostration of forgetfulness is required, as established in the narration concerning Dhu al-Yadayn. Regarding speaking accidentally during prayer, there are two narrations concerning whether the prayer is invalidated or if prostration of forgetfulness is legislated.
