Primary text

There are two scholarly opinions regarding a traveler intending residence after commencing the second prayer or arriving in their hometown during it. One view holds that the prayer must be completed in full, aligning with the ruling concerning the cessation of rain. Another view holds that the prayer reverts to voluntary (Nafl) and the combination is nullified, as the condition for the concession of travel has ceased mid-performance, analogous to the cessation of conditions for shortening prayer or wiping over a Khuff (Masah).

Supporting text

The view that the combination is nullified argues that the cessation of the travel excuse invalidates it, similar to other prerequisites of travel concessions. This situation is distinguished from the cessation of rain because rain's cessation is uncertain (it might return), or it is replaced by another excuse, such as mud (Wahl), which is not the case here.
