What is the ruling when a traveler intends to reside (Iqama) while performing a journey that allows for shortening the prayer?

If a traveler intends an act that necessitates the completion of the prayer, such as making the intention to reside (Iqama), they are obligated to complete the prayer. Those praying behind them must follow this completion. This is the view of Al-Shafi'i.
