Primary text

If sitting is affirmed, it is likely that one sits in the manner of sitting between the two prostrations, spreading the foot (Iftirash), which is the Madhhab of Ash-Shafi'i. This is supported by Abu Humayd's description of the Prophet's prayer, stating he bent his leg, sat upright until every limb returned to its place, then rose. Some scholars mention sitting upon the buttocks, resting them on the ground, to avoid doubt regarding whether one rose from the first or second prostration.

Supporting text

Al-Amadi stated that the companions agree that one does not place the buttocks on the ground in the rest sit; rather, one sits suspended above the ground. Regardless of the ruling on sitting, one rises to the standing position on the balls of the feet, relying on the knees, without relying on the hands.
