Primary text
Upon waking during the night (ta'ar), one should recite the declaration of Tawhid, praise, and power: 'La ilaha illallah, wahdahu la sharika lah, lahul mulk wa lahul hamd, wa huwa 'ala kulli shayin qadir. Al-hamdulillah, wa subhanallah, wa la ilaha illallah, wallahu akbar, wa la hawla wa la quwwata illa billah.' If one then supplicates, the supplication is answered. If one then performs ablution and prays, the prayer is accepted, according to the narration of 'Ubadah and authenticated by Bukhari.
