Primary text

Prayer of Need (*Salat al-Hajah*) is established for any person who has a need directed toward Allah or toward any member of the progeny of Adam. The prescribed action requires completing ablution perfectly, then praying two rak'ahs. Following the prayer, one must praise Allah (Exalted be He) and send blessings upon the Prophet (peace be upon him). Subsequently, one recites the specified supplication: 'La ilaha illa Allah al-Halim al-Karim, la ilaha illa Allah al-'Aliyy al-'Azim, Subhana Allah Rabb al-'Arsh al-'Azim, al-Hamdu Lillahi Rabb al-'Alamin, As'aluka mujibati rahmatika wa 'aza'ima maghfiratika, wal-ghanima min kulli birrin, was-salama min kulli ithmin, la tada' li dhanban illa ghafartahu, wa la hamman illa farrajtahu, wa la hajatun hiya laka rida illa qadaytaha, ya arham ar-rahimin.' This is supported by the narration from Abdullah ibn Abi Awfa, where the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) detailed these steps.
