The narration attributed to 'Ali, upon which some rely for limiting recitation to the first two Rak'ahs, is transmitted through Al-Harith Al-A'war, whom Al-Sha'bi described as a liar. Furthermore, it is a statement from 'Ali himself, which contradicts the practices of 'Umar and Jabir. Moreover, the secret recitation (Israr) in the last two Rak'ahs does not negate obligation, as evidenced by the first two Rak'ahs of Dhuhr and Asr prayers, where recitation is audible (Jahr) but obligatory.
