Is the judge required to inquire about the basis of claimed ownership if no cause for ownership is stated?

Book of Preemption (Shuf'ah)
Primary text
If a person does not specify the basis of ownership, the judge is not required to question them about it or demand its clarification. This is because if they had explicitly stated 'I purchased it,' preemption would not have been established anyway, rendering any further inquiry without practical benefit.
