Does ablution performed before puberty suffice for obligatory prayer after reaching maturity?
Chapter on Tayammum
Al-Mughni
Book of Purification
Primary text
If a minor performs dry ablution (Tayamum) for one of the five obligatory prayers and subsequently reaches puberty, that Tayamum does not suffice for the obligatory prayer because what the minor intended was a supererogatory act (Nawfil). However, the minor may perform a supererogatory act with it. If the minor performs ritual washing (Wudu) before reaching puberty and afterwards reaches maturity, that Wudu suffices for both obligatory and supererogatory prayers, because Wudu intended for a supererogatory act permits the performance of the obligatory act.
