Is ablution valid if one wipes the face with the dust already present on the face?

It is possible that wiping the face with dust already present on it suffices because wiping was performed with earth. However, the sounder view is that it is not sufficient because Allah commanded seeking the purified earth (Sa'id) and wiping with it, which was not attained in this manner.
