Chapter on the Obligation of Purification
Al-Mughni
Book of Purification
Primary text
Assisting another person with their ablution is permissible. Evidence for this is found in the narration of Al-Mughirah ibn Shu'bah, who poured water for the Prophet (peace be upon him) during his ablution, as narrated by Muslim. Similarly, Safwan ibn Assal narrated that he poured water for the Prophet (peace be upon him) during travel and at residence. Furthermore, Umm 'Ayash, a former slave of Ruqayyah daughter of the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him), stated that she used to pour water for the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) while standing, and he was sitting. These narrations are reported by Ibn Majah.
