Does augmenting water less than two qullahs or introducing a substance other than pure water remove impurity if the physical change ceases?

There are two views. The first is that it is not purified because the substance cannot remove impurity from itself, let alone from something else, and since it is not purifying agent (Tuhur), it cannot effect purification, similar to impure water. The second view holds that it is purified because the cause of impurity was the change, and once that change is gone, the impurity is removed, similar to when change dissipates naturally or when wine turns into vinegar.
