What is the condition for legitimizing wiping over a splint (Jabeerah) in ablution?

Primary text
Wiping over a splint is only permissible when removing it would cause harm (darar). This differs from wiping over the sock (khuff), which has different criteria. The wiping must cover the entire area of the splint because there is no harm in covering it completely, unlike the sock where complete covering is difficult and wiping might damage it. If part of the splint covers an area required for ablution and part covers an area outside of it, one must wipe only the portion that corresponds to the area required for ablution, a position stated by Ahmad.
