Primary text

Gargling (Mamdah) is circulating water inside the mouth. Rinsing the nose (Istinshaq) is drawing water with breath into the interior of the nose. Expelling water from the nose (Istinthaar) is removing water from the nostrils. However, Istinthaar is sometimes used synonymously with Istinshaq due to the close association between the two actions.
