Does drying of the limbs due to engaging in other acts invalidate continuity?
Chapter on the Obligation of Purification

Book of Purification
Primary text
If the limbs dry because one is occupied with an obligatory or recommended act within the purification rite, this separation is not counted as a break. This is similar to prolonging the standing section of the prayer. Imam Ahmad stated that if one is occupied in the process of perfecting the ablution, there is no issue, even if it is due to obsessive doubt (waswasa) he is experiencing. If the delay is due to frivolous action or something beyond the Sunnah, it is counted as a break. There is a possibility that delays due to obsessive doubt are also counted as a break because the person is occupied with something neither obligatory nor recommended.
