Primary text

The duration for wiping over the Khuff is set for a resident (Muqīm) for one day and one night, and for a traveler (Musāfir) for three days and nights, based on the general statement of the Prophet, peace be upon him. Wiping is not invalidated by the expiration of the prescribed time, just as it is not invalidated by the things that break ritual purity.

Supporting text

Some Shāfiʿī scholars assert that a woman experiencing Istiḥāḍah or continuous urinary incontinence is not permitted to wipe over the Khuff for a period longer than the time allotted for one obligatory prayer, because the original purity established before wearing the Khuff only legitimizes that limited duration.
