If an extra digit or limb grows in a location outside the required area for washing, such as the upper arm or shoulder, washing it is not obligatory, regardless of whether it is short or long. This is because it is outside the required area, analogous to head hair that extends beyond the face. This is the position held by Ibn Hamid and Ibn Aqil.
